minutes 04172012 special meeting environmental assessment for a proposed wastewater

							The public hearing for the City of Glendive was opened Tuesday, April 17, 2012 by Mayor Jimison at 7:10pm.
The following Council members were present: Steve Bury, Rhett Coon, Leon Baker, Matt Hull, Linda Jones,
Gerald Reichert and Carrie Sokoloski. Others present were Treasurer Kathleen Zander, Director of Operations
Kevin Dorwart, Director of Public Works Gary Zuroff, Fire Chief George Lane, Interim Police Chief Ty Ulrich and
representatives from KXGN and the Ranger Review. Council member Mike Dryden was absent.

The purpose of the public hearing was to obtain public comments regarding an environmental assessment for
a proposed project that will replace the existing facultative lagoons with a wastewater treatment plant. This
project will also move the current point of discharge from Glendive Creek to a new discharge location in the
Yellowstone River.

Mayor Jimison read aloud the legal notice of the public hearing which had been printed in the paper April 1st,
2012 and April 15th, 2012.

Zuroff explained the waste water project, the need for environmental assessment, how the County will join the
City on this project; and stated letters had been sent to all state agencies to get comments. Funding agencies
require the environmental impact on the project.

Zuroff read the Environmental Assessment page. There have been no comments received of significant
impact. The Environmental assessment is acceptable. The Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) is not
necessary.

Mayor Jimison asked if the Council had any question or concerns.

With none voiced, Mayor Jimison asked if the public had any comments.

Mayor Jimison asked again if the public had any comments.

Mayor Jimison asked on more time if there were any comments or questions from the public or Council
members.

Hearing none, Mayor Jimison closed the public hearing.

With no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
