ADMINISTRATIVE POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
TITLE OF POSITION: Assistant Director of Annual Giving (Leadership Annual Giving Officer)
DEPARTMENT: Development and University Relations, Lincoln Center
The Annual Giving Officer is part of a dynamic and high-energy team of development professionals working in a
collaborative environment within the centralized Department of Development and University Relations at Fordham
University. The Development team works closely with the deans of the undergraduate/graduate schools and colleges to
execute the University’s campaign goals by cultivating relationships with the University’s broad array of accomplished
alumni and securing new gifts in support Leadership Annual Giving. The development team works closely with the alumni
relations staff and the marketing and communication staff to carry out the departments objectives
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Annual Giving Programs, the Leadership Annual Giving Officer is
primarily responsible for the identification, qualification, cultivation and solicitation of individual prospects capable
of making annual gifts from $1,000 to $25,000 per year.
Builds and maintains a portfolio of prospects and soliciting them primarily for unrestricted, current use gifts.
The Leadership Annual Giving Officer actively engages prospects in their portfolio and schedules approximately
150 personal visits annually; organizes small gatherings and other cultivation events, and/or develops class, school,
or department-based committees to solicit prospective donors
Works in collaboration with the Alumni Relations office and Directors of Development for the various schools and
constituencies to establish contacts and cultivate relationships with prospects and will attend alumni meetings,
reunions and other special events as it relates to development priorities
QUALIFICATIONS:
A bachelor’s degree is required and advanced degree in any discipline is preferred
Candidates should have 3-5 years experience in alumni relations
The ideal candidate should have experience working with volunteer leadership.
Candidates should be familiar with the vehicles of giving (direct mail, phone, and electronic) and possess the
interpersonal skills and confidence necessary to engage in face to face solicitations.
We seek individuals with enthusiasm, creativity, organizational ability, attention to detail and focus.
He or she must be a team player, able to work collaboratively with colleagues within Development and University
Relations and the university at large.
Excellent written and oral communication skills are expected. Acquaintance with complex organizations and/or
universities is a plus. Fluency with computerized development databases is desirable.
SALARY: Commensurate with experience
