Departmental Overview

We are seeking a Deputy Director for the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.

The position reports directly to the Assistant Vice Chancellor and Director

for Undergraduate Admissions. The Office of Undergraduate Admissions must

provide a fair opportunity for every applicant to obtain admission to the

University, operate in a professional manner that ensures positive staff

morale and values hard work and dedication, communicate and collaborate

effectively, present a coordinated effort to standardize procedures and

document best practices, offer a variety of methods for professional

development, and provide first-class customer service in a cost-effective

and transparent manner.



Responsibilities

. Manages day-to-day operations and represents the Office of Undergraduate

Admissions in the absence of the Assistant Vice Chancellor; has authority to
make binding decisions on behalf of the office

. Holds signature authority for budget and HR actions

. Oversees implementation and management of the complex selection cycle for

the admission and readmission of undergraduates

. Direct supervision of 5 professional staff who manage transcript

evaluation, freshman and transfer admission processes; records management,

marketing and recruitment, articulation and enrollment management

. Participates in campus/system-wide admission policy-making committees as

well as state and national committees of appropriate professional

associations; has the authority to make binding decisions on behalf of the

office.




Required Qualifications

The successful candidate will demonstrate skill/experience/knowledge in:

. Analysis and critical thinking demonstrated by strong problem solving,

quantitative analysis, decision making, as well as strategic planning and

organizational development

. Budgeting and human resource management

. Strong verbal, written and listening communication skills as well as

interpersonal effectiveness

. Conflict management/resolution, delegation and organizational awareness

. Strong political acumen, customer service commitment and leadership

. Large, complex computer systems and information management

. Creation and integration of systems
. Operating best practices

. Cutting edge media communications and publications

.Trends and new developments in admissions and educational policy at the

undergraduate level

. Enrollment planning/management, statistics, quantitative analysis and

research methodology

. Secondary and post-secondary education that may affect application and

preparation and/or choice

. State and federal law to determine the legality of proposed changes in

admission policies

. Recruiting and diversity issues in context to UC Berkeley

. Educational access and opportunity

. Marketing and recruitment

. Educational testing developments

. Bachelor's degree required, and/or equivalent education and experience

. Advanced degree preferred



Salary & Benefits

$80,100 - $112,200 annually. Please visit the website for information on
