The Department of Pathology at West Virginia University Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center is accepting applications for a full-time faculty appointment as Medical Director of the Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory at WVU Hospitals (academic rank, career track and salary commensurate with experience). Candidates must possess a M.D. and/or Ph.D. degree and demonstrate the technical and communication skills necessary to develop, oversee, and lead a molecular diagnostics program that includes both routine and high complexity molecular testing. The Director will help plan construction of a new, state-of-the-art laboratory facility at WVU Hospitals and will provide vision for the future expansion of our molecular diagnostic services. Candidates with experience in a clinical academic environment and knowledge/interest in other areas of Clinical Pathology will be particularly attractive. The position will require significant contributions to the educational mission of the department which includes teaching residents, fellows, medical students and clinical laboratory scientists. WVU is located in Morgantown, WV, on the border of the scenic Cumberland Plateau. The area offers a bounty of outdoor recreation opportunities, the amenities of a mid-size university town and proximity to Pittsburgh, PA (~80 miles) and Washington, D.C. (~210 miles).
