French Red Cross is seeking motivated and experienced candidates for the position of TRANSLATING / REPORTING OFFICER Job Location : Yangon (with possible field monitoring mission according to the expatriate needs) Number of position : 1 position st st Term : From 1 October to 31 December 2012 – renewable (program until 2013) Reporting to : Admin / Finance / HR Manager French Red Cross (FRC): The French Red Cross (FRC) is working in Myanmar since 2007, through a Memorandum of Understanding/ Cooperation Agreement with the Ministry of Health and the Myanmar Red Cross Society (MRCS). Since January 2009 FRC is implementing a Disaster Risk Reduction program for a 5 years period, in order to increase the resilience of communities who are living in the most prone disaster areas of the 6 Coastal regions and states of Myanmar. The main activities of this program are: prevention, mitigation, risk awareness, community risk assessment, risk education & Knowledge, emergency preparedness of the communities as well as a strong capacity building process towards MRCS township branches and MRCS volunteers. After Cyclone Nargis, FRC developed also emergency relief & recovery programs especially in Livelihood, Water, Sanitation & Hygiene and Infrastructure, Rehabilitation/ Reconstruction. RESPONSIBILITES AND ACTIVITIES: Provide oral and written translation to the FRC Delegation - in Yangon office and in the program areas - and support in English document writing / typing (letter, contract, reporting…) Objectives: - Review, proof read and modify existing documents in either Myanmar or English languages, as required - Type and format professional documents such as meeting minutes, reports and power point presentations in both Myanmar and English - Perform oral translation (simultaneous), in various settings (e.g. meetings, trainings, etc.) - Ensure all written and oral translation maintains accuracy of content while conveying equivalent meaning, spirit and appearance (for written documents) - Support FRC Delegation departments (Programme, Logistics and Administration/Finance/HR) or Head of delegation toward document writing such as official letters, contracts or reporting. - Liaise with FRC and MRCS staff and other stakeholders as required The list here above is not exhaustive, and you could be requested to perform other tasks as your supervisor may judge necessary REQUIRED SKILLS: • Fluency in spoken Myanmar and English languages • University degree or diploma related to the position • 2 years minimum relevant working experience related to the position in INGO and UN sectors. • Strong translation ability between Myanmar and English languages (technical and simple) • Proficiency in writing and typing both in Myanmar and in English • Computer proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) • Professional manner in order to interact with the internal and external representatives (management level staff and local authorities) • Strong organizational skills and attention to details • Ability to prioritize tasks and take initiatives • Interest in developing and sharing professional skills • Ability to work well in a team environment, with flexibility and patience • Knowledge of technical (Disaster risk reduction and construction) terminology • Experience in humanitarian sector desired • Understanding of Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement a plus Applications (including CV and references) should be submitted to French Red Cross Office not later st than 21 September 2012 (before 5:00 PM).
