For more than 100 years, Women’s College Hospital has been dedicated to
groundbreaking advances in health care. Today, we recognize that health-care needs
are changing. The population is aging, people are living longer, and increasingly, people
are dealing with multiple chronic conditions. As the first and only independent,
academic, ambulatory hospital in Ontario with a focus on the health of women,
Women’s College Hospital is responding to those growing needs. The Strategic
Communications department at Women’s College Hospital plays a pivotal role in
communicating the hospital’s unique mandate, along with our leading-edge programs
and services to our various stakeholders.
The digital team within the Strategic Communications department is looking for a
motivated individual interested in developing digital communications skills while working
in an exciting and ever-evolving health-care environment.
This internship is a unique opportunity to gain experience in managing strategic social
media campaigns, writing and managing content for the web (external audience), writing
and managing content for the intranet (internal audience) and measuring web/social
media analytics, all while supporting the strategic goals and objectives of a leading
health-care organization. Women’s College Hospital currently engages its stakeholders
through a variety of digital channels and this position supports these efforts.
You should be a responsible self-starter with advanced writing skills, a passion for
social media engagement, with a strong desire to learn the digital side of strategic
communications.
Responsibilities include:
monitor and manage our various social media channels, including Twitter,
Facebook, YouTube, Pinterest and Flickr
monitor and participate in weekly tweetchats on #hcsmca
develop and execute social media campaigns using tools like HootSuite and
TweetDeck
think strategically and brainstorm with the team on social media trends/how to
promote the websites internally and externally
regularly interview health-care professionals within the hospital and write feature
articles on health-care topics of interest to women, to be published on the
website
assist with publishing the monthly Women’s Health Matters e-bulletin
regularly update content on external and internal sites using content management
systems
monitor website traffic and trends using Google Analytics and SEOMoz
Conditions:
This four-month internship is open to currently enrolled or recently graduated students
of a marketing and communications program from a recognized institution. Recent
graduates must have completed their studies within the previous 6 months.
We are seeking the following required skills:
excellent writing and strong analytical skills
experience working within tight timelines and deadlines
strong interpersonal skills with good judgment
comfortable working in a team environment
experience with MS Office with basic Adobe Photoshop skills
interest in health care
In addition:
experience with content management systems (CMS), Google Analytics, social
media analytics and/or video production considered an asset
knowledge of online content, social media trends and best practices in the digital
space a big plus
Compensation: A monthly $500 honorarium
