  MULTINATIONAL BOTSWANA/ZAMBIA: THE SADC NORTH-SOUTH TRANSPORT
                   CORRIDOR IMPROVEMENT STUDY

                         GENERAL PROCUREMENT NOTICE

The Governments of Botswana and Zambia and the SADC Secretariat have received
Grants in different currencies from the African Development Bank Group towards the cost
of financing the SADC North-South Transport Corridor Improvement Study.

The objective of the Study is to prepare the economic feasibility, detail engineering
design, and tender documents for the Kazungula Bridge over the Zambezi River and other
key corridor-related facilities along the SADC north-south corridor within Botswana and
Zambia. The study includes the following components:

   (a)   Consulting Services for Economic Feasibility and Detailed Design studies of the
         Kazungula Bridge, Border Control Facilities, and Tolling Facilities. The bridge is
         a 720-m two-lane bridge with 1-m sidewalk on both sides. The other facilities
         include 3-km approach road, One-Stop-Border Posts, and tolling facilities;

   (b)   Consulting Services for Feasibility and Detailed Design of other corridor-related
         facilities along the North-South Corridor including inland container depots (ICD);
         weighbridge stations, truck rest areas, and roadside socioeconomic
         infrastructure;

   (c)   Consulting Services for Trade and Transport Facilitation for the North-South
         transport corridor (Lubumbashi-Durban);

   (d)   Technical Assistance for the recruitment of a three-year fixed-term Transport
         Infrastructure Adviser to oversee the implementation of the study and assist the
         infrastructure department of SADC in the formulation, preparation and
         coordination of regional transport infrastructure and NEPAD projects.

The acquisition of the services of Consultants will follow the African Development Bank's
Rules of Procedure for the Use of Consultants. Request for Proposals are expected to be
