                          IT ADVISOR (Part Time Term Time Only)

                                       Job Description

Responsible for:          N/A


Grade:                    Grade: 4                                    Hours:        16 hours,
                          Incremental Scale: Yes                                     term time only
                          Starting Salary: £17,677 (pro rata)

Role Summary:

To provide 1st line IT support, face-to-face and via telephone and email, for staff and students. To
be based at the IT Service Desk within the Library and IT building


Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Work Processes and results

To work within a team to provide a customer focused IT advisory and repair service for members of
the university.

The IT Advisor will:

   Troubleshoot PC hardware and software problems to enable students to gain access to the
    University computer network liaising closely with members of IT staff.

   Assist in the maintenance of IT Service Desk facilities including IT equipment, documentation,
    notices and call logs.

   Advise and support, undergraduate and post graduate students, members of staff within the
    University, with IT related issues.

   Provide Help Desk usage data which is recorded and stored.

   Installing hardware, software and operating systems on computers when required.

   Production of audio visual help guides using web and multimedia software
   Maintenance of IT Suite Services i.e. PC peripherals, printers, scanner.

   Carry out any other reasonable activities in line with the requirements of the IT section.


Communication

   Communicate with members of the university on the use of IT facilities and services dealing
    with face-to-face, email and telephone general enquiries.

   Have the ability to communicate technical complexities to a non-technical customer.
