West Virginia Board of Education
Strategic Plan
Developed to Address
the Vision, Mission and Strategic Goals of
The West Virginia Board of Education
Introduction
The West Virginia Board of Education is committed to improving the educational
proficiency of all students in West Virginia. To this aim, the Board has developed a set of five
strategic goals. These goals put into operation the Board’s legal authority to establish
policies and rules, to ensure general supervision, and to provide general oversight and
monitoring of a thorough and efficient educational system. The Board of Education has
translated its strategic goals into a strategic plan via designing the plan based upon the
goals; developing evidence for measuring progress in achieving each goal; establishing
objectives to achieve the goals, and establishing timelines, activities, and responsibilities to
implement the plan.
