Creativity in action
Watch how creative installations are created in only four days. Students of textile and fashion design
work in mixed international groups, and they only get to know each other on arrival. Their materials
are textile based and donated by local companies
The creative theme is: POWERHOUSE EUROPE CONNECTED.
- POWER of young talents
- From 11 EUROPEan and one Latin American university
- So many aspects are CONNECTED: the students with each other, with the companies, the
academies, the textiles, …
A living exchange in Europe - CONNECTED
The driving force of any creative design work: Develop and modify product characteristics such as
form, function, colour. Using the inspirations each designer gets from his background and from the
environment. The project is an example for multicultural exchanges. The network „Bestofdesign.org“
is an international exchange forum favouring tolerance and diversity. By working together in
internationally mixed teams, the students learn how to use diversity as a source of inspiration.
The teams are formed by drawing lots. Each group is facilitated by an academic tutor from one oft he
universities. Each group has to find a common language to achieve a common creative vision.
Parc de Wesserling industrial heritage and creative centre
From the 18th to the late 20th century, Wesserling was the site of one of Europe`s largest factories
for printed textile which were appreciated on markets around the world. Today, the Parc de
Wesserling is being re-developed as an enterprise park. The Ecomusée Textile maintains the textile
tradition and knowhow. The gardens open for yearly theme events. Exhibitions, creative workshops
and projects such as POWERHOUSE EUROPE CONNECTED use the site for creative actions and link it
to the future.
Talent scouting and connexions with industry: Pole Textile Alsace
These young designers get to know each other, but they will also meet staff from textile companies
and from the Pole Textile Alsace who donated materials.
