COLOMBIAN CONSORTIUM EEB-TGI WINS THE BIDDING PROCESS FOR
THE REGIONAL GAS PIPELINE OF ICA

The Private Investment Promotion Agency (PROINVERSIÓN) awarded on 25th
April the concession for the Natural Gas Distribution System in the department of Ica
to the Consortium EEB-TGI, comprising as an integral project, ‘Energía de Bogotá’
and ‘Transportadora de Gas del Interior’, both of Colombian origin. The Consortium
will be in charge of the design, financing, construction, operation and maintenance of
the system.

The winning consortium will install a minimum of 40.425 home connections to the
present value for the use of the gas, besides acquiring 51 percent of national
components. It is estimated that the overall investment will range between US$ 60
and US$ 180 million.

The time limit of the concession is of 30 years including the period of construction,
set at 30 months at most, since the closing of the contest. Once expired, this will be
transferred to the State in order to initiate a new cycle of tender and operation.

The gas pipeline will start in the locality of Humay, located in the main duct of
Camisea. One tier duct will be built to Pisco and Chincha and another one to Ica,
Nazca & Marcona. In the surroundings there are industries with great consumption of
natural gas that constitute the economic base of the project such as: ‘Aceros
Arequipa’, Funsur, several factories of fishmeal, Shougang, and in the future, the
petrochemical industry.

The gas pipeline will permit joining cities to the tier ducts, to build a network of
distribution to reach domestic consumers, small industries and businesses.

The price of the natural gas for small, medium, and large consumers in the department
of Ica will be competitive with the fuels currently employed.
