DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:               Performs responsible paraprofessional library
work at the highest level, providing bookmobile and outreach services for the public
library system. Employee’s primary responsibility is to operate the bookmobile to
provide library service throughout Transylvania County. Must be able to drive and
operate large vehicle. Responsible for the regular maintenance and cleaning of
vehicle. Position requires extensive public contact with patrons, institutional staffs,
volunteers and community partners. Work includes circulation duties, assisting with
ready reference and more involved research issues, and tracking and reporting data.
Works with the Children’s department to schedule, plan and execute children’s
programs for schools and day care centers. Selects and maintains a high quality
collection of circulating material to meet patron needs. Plans and schedules routes to
meet community needs. Must work weekends and a flexible schedule.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from a four year college or university
with major course work in a related field preferred and some related experience; or an
equivalent combination of education and experience. Safe driving record required.
Experience operating large vehicles desirable.
