The Jamie Oliver Foundation team work together to help improve lives through food in a
number of ways:

The purpose of this role is to manage the school food campaign for the Foundation. This
will involve working on two fronts. Firstly you’ll be initiating, developing, promoting and
managing the school kitchen gardens project. Secondly you’ll be promoting, developing
and managing the Foundation’s campaign to improve the provision of, and funding for,
school meals throughout the UK.
The ideal person for this role will have a proven ability to manage large, successful
projects. They will have excellent organisation, relationship management and planning
skills and will have a real flair for promotion and diplomacy. It goes without saying that
whoever takes this role will have good skills in the kitchen and have a real passion for

good food that is grown and prepared in the best ways. It’s not essential to have
experience of working within the education sector, but it certainly wouldn’t hurt.
Candidates without prior experience in the education sector will need to learn about it
quickly to be effective.
The main areas of responsibility for this job are:
1. To project manage the creation, promotion and implementation of the schools
kitchen gardens programme with full responsibility for delivering the project to the
agreed objectives within the agreed budget and to an agreed timeframe.
2. To provide the drive, energy and motivation behind the kitchen garden project and
the improvement of school meals in the UK, leading by example by maintaining
focus on the desired outcomes and working tirelessly to realise them despite the
obstacles which will undoubtedly present themselves.
3. To work closely with both Jamie and his Deputy to provide updates on school
kitchen gardens and school meal improvement, ensuring that the projects are
being managed in ways that really represent Jamie’s views, values, ideas and the
ways in which he likes to work.
4. To learn as much as possible about the “Jamie way” as quickly as possible from
the Food team and the other support teams around the Jamie Oliver group in order
to be able to bring this to life in every aspect of the projects and the way they’re
5. To devise the schools kitchen garden programme that will be launched in schools
throughout the UK. This will include working with the help of experts in the
education sector on the creation and on-going maintenance of the materials and
support required by schools in order to set up and run kitchen gardens which are in
line with the national curriculum.
6. To recruit and select schools to take part in the programme which will benefit most
from it, ensuring that relationships are carefully managed and that the selected
schools have the best possible experience and outcomes as a result of the

and sponsorship relationships from the private and charitable sector to ensure the

necessary funding and support is available to the projects in order that they can be
successful and sustainable in the long-term.
9. To ensure that everyone involved on the projects has been well trained, is being
provided with support and direction and that any issues (including performance
issues) within the project team are being dealt with swiftly and positively.
10. To be responsible for the promotion of the campaigns internally and externally,
working with the PR Manager to ensure that successes are well reported and that
the most is made of any positive media interest in the project.
11. To work effectively with all personnel, departments and companies to ensure
consistency, efficiency, professionalism and effective communication.
12. To attend internal meetings as required by your Manager and provide updates on
your area of responsibility.
