DEPUTY ATTORNEY GENERAL
Family Division, Child Protection Unit, Kent County Office
Description of Duties:
We are seeking a Deputy Attorney General for the Family Division, Child Protection
Unit in the Kent County Office. This Deputy Attorney General primarily represents the
Division of Family Services (“DFS”) in their often complex Dependency and Neglect
hearings, Termination of Parental Rights hearings and Child Protection Registry hearings
before the Family Court. This Deputy Attorney General also prepares appeal briefs and
represents DFS in any Supreme Court appeals resulting from the various hearings, and
files and responds to pleadings in the Family Court and participates in case planning
meetings.
Related experience in Family Court is not necessary. This Deputy Attorney General
should be able to work independently and meet deadlines and have excellent verbal and
written communication skills. This Deputy Attorney General will be expected to handle
cases from time to time in other Units of the Family Division, including Child Support
Enforcement, Juvenile Delinquency and Truancy and Domestic Violence.
