Health and Safety Policy
The Maths department will follow the guidelines as set out in the whole-school
policy on Health and Safety.
Pupils will not have access to dangerous items such as chemicals, sharp tools,
electrical items (other than computers)
If pupils are taken out on school trips, then normal school and School/Governor
policies will apply.
Glue will be bought which contains no harmful chemicals.
When the fire alarm rings, standard school procedure will be followed. Windows
and doors will be closed, and pupils escorted to the assembly point.
Pupils will not be allowed to take medicines in the class, and will be self
administered as per school handbook.
The aim is to produce a calm, controlled atmosphere where no dangerous accidents
can occur which are a result of the negligence of the teacher.
The room is checked regularly by the Health and Safety Committee, but members of
staff are also responsible for noticing deficiencies in the rooms, and reporting them
to the committee or Senior Management team, as seems appropriate.
All windows have now been replaced, and this means that adequate ventilation is
available in all classrooms.
