             BIOS Battery
• The motherboard has a
  small battery which
  supplies the BIOS chip
  with electricity. The
  BIOS chip needs
  electricity to retain
  settings vital to the
  computer’s operation,
  such as boot order,
  device configurations
  and date/time settings.
                IDE Slots
• This is were the data
  cables from the CD
  drive, Hard drive and
  floppy drive attach to
  the motherboard
        Expansion Slots
• One way to attach
  additional
  components to your
  computer. Common
  expansion cards
  include video cards,
  sound cards,
  modems and
  Ethernet cards.
        Memory Slots
• Slots where RAM
  can be easily
  added and/or
  upgraded.
                    Fan
• This cools the
  motherboard and
  microprocessor to a
  temperature that
  allows both to
  function properly.
              Chipset
• Microchips that
  are designed to
  work together.
                Capacitors
• An electrical device
  used to store energy
  temporarily even if the
  device is unplugged.

• Capacitors are
  dangerous and can
  cause an electric shock
                Speaker
• This speaker is not
  to play your music.
  It is the way the
  computer can
  communicate to you
if it is OK or sick.

• Very few computers
  have this device
      Power Connector
• One of the many
  wire harnesses from
  the Power Supply
  connects here to
  provide the
  motherboard with
  electricity.
