This traineeship has been designed as an entry level qualification for students for entry to a
range of industries, including telecommunications, information technology and electronics..
Trainees will concentrate on one of three streams:
Cabling Technician Stream
Digital Reception Stream
Possible job pathways for this qualification include:
cabler and installer / data cabler
equipment installer /
SME business network installer / IP based network installer
subscription TV installer
telecommunications equipment operator
TV and digital TV antenna installer.

A career path into the Telecommunications industry
Articulation into Certificate III in Telecommunications (ICT30210)
Course delivery On the job and off the job and can be delivered face-to-face, flexibly
or mixed mode
Commitment required Undertake a minimum of 100 days in paid employment plus the
formal training to complete the qualification.
Undertake Certificate II in Telecommunications Technology
ICT20110 as part of your HSC.
The employment and training can be undertaken during school time,
after school and during school holidays.
How will you be assessed? Both on the job and off the job through written tests, project work &
Eligibility HSC Unit Credit:
Furnishing course No Minimum of 4 units over two years towards your HSC for the
structured training component (VET course) undertaken as part of
the school based traineeship.
Industry-based No This optional course is offered as recognition of the significant work
Learning course component involved in the school based traineeship.
(optional) If chosen this course offers an additional 4 units credit towards your
HSC, however this course does not contribute towards the ATAR.
