Position Title: Employment/Resource Specialist – Focused Technologies
Responsible to: Director of Development Locations: Focused Technologies

Hours: Regular Part-time Employment 21 Hours per week during Focused Technologies
Business Hours
Flexible hours depending on worksite.
FLSA Status: Non Exempt
Summary: Provides assistance/support to Focused Technologies team members to address concerns which
impact their ability to successfully perform their job. The position is part of the contract services team, but is
exclusive to the Focused Technologies work site.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
o Administer and refer team members to the appropriate network resource as needed
o Assist team members in navigating the various ancillary support services as needed
(Social Services, Medicaid, etc.)
Maintain confidential disability related documentation on any employee seeking out assistance or
direction from the coordinator.
Prepare disability documentation in compliance with NYSID Preferred Source contract program needs
Support the referral process for a qualified candidate pool for available Focused Technologies
positions
o Educate potential referral sources regarding position availability and employer expectations
Complete mandated disability documentation paperwork as necessary
Provide Job Coaching for Focused Technologies team members if needed
o Provide minimal to intensive training and/or follow-up support to Focused Technologies staff
at job site(s) per team member needs:
o Provide follow-up job counseling support for individuals needing minimal intervention.
o Provide training and reinforcement of appropriate job skills, work habits, social skills, and
interactions
Coordinate and schedule face to face meetings with Focused team members and Employment
specialist on a monthly scheduled basis.

Communicate with Employment specialist, supervisor, on-call staff and/or other service providers as
applicable, regarding team member progress, strengths, needs, and difficulties and assess intervention
needs.
Facilitate natural supports, independence, and integration at the Focused Tech work site.
Evaluate employee progress and intervention needs in conjunction with fading services as appropriate.
Support Focused Technologies’ management team as needed
Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year College or university in social work,
vocational rehabilitation, psychology, sociology, or related field and 1-2 years of experience; or an AAS and a
minimum of 3 years of related experience. Prior Supervisory/Management experience required.
Mobility: NYS Driver’s License required and reliable transportation is required.
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals,
technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write timely progress reports, business
correspondence or other documents. The ability to effectively present information and respond to questions
from groups of managers, clients, customers, supervisors and the general public is very important.
Bilingual capabilities needed: Bilingual ability may be beneficial, but not essential.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in
situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in
written, oral, diagram, or schedule as it relates to the job coaching assignment.
Physical Requirements:
An employee who always talks/hears; usually is walking and standing with occasional sitting, and some
stooping, kneeling or crouching.
