Program Participation Checklist
The following lists eligibility criteria for participation in the SAFE program. If at any time these
requirements are not met, or if the student elects to withdraw from the program, any accrued money
will remain in the CPS Energy scholarship fund. Students participating in the CPS Energy Student
Assistance For Education program must meet all CPS Energy hiring policy requirements.
Have a grade average of "B" or higher
Rank in the top 20% of class
Have an above average attendance record
Demonstrate an interest in seeking a degree applicable to the utility industry, such as
Engineering, Accounting, Business or Computer Information Systems
Be able to accept summer employment with CPS Energy after junior and senior years in
Be able to attend all activities sponsored by CPS Energy during summer employment
Must reside in CPS Energy service area
Pass a drug test and background screen prior to summer employment with CPS Energy
Obtain and submit two written personal references.
Provide current student photo.
Submit application, parent consent form and checklist by March 23.2012.
Scholarship Award Requirements
Graduate from a greater San Antonio area high school
Attend an accredited four-year university or college
Pursue a degree specifically applicable to CPS Energy and the utility industry
Register for a minimum of 12 hours each fall and spring semester
Maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher while in college
Remain in good standing with the college or university
Submit course schedule and grades to CPS Energy each semester
Agree to have scholarship money apply only to tuition, books and on-campus room-
