              CREDO
CREDO is a Round Rock ISD alternative education

their high school diploma. Our hours of operation
extend into the evening hours, thus offering
greater opportunities for student to meet the
demanding requirements necessary for
graduation. We believe that no child should be
left behind and, as a result, we focus our goals on
student who need extra help.
         MISSION
Our Mission is to provide the seamless
integration of required curriculum needed
by students to graduate from high school;
to provide a safe environment where
instruction is geared to produce life-long
learners and responsible citizens who are
able to successfully compete in a
challenging and changing world.
         VISION
Our vision is to have all students
graduate through engaged learning
that supports and reinforces the
educational efforts and goals of our
four high schools.
           EQUAL EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY
                   NONDISCRIMINATION

individuals within its jurisdiction or geographic boundaries.
  Education Code 1.002(a)

purporting to act in an official capacity, refuse to permit
any student to participate in any school program because of
the student’s race, religion, color, sex, or national origin.
Civ. Prac. & Rem. Code 106.001
• The District may not deny services to any individual eligible
to participate in its special education program, but it shall

services as authorized by law. Education Code 1.002(b)
 STUDENT RIGHTS AND
  RESPONSIBILITIES
• Each student is expected to respect
the rights and privileges of other
  students, teachers, and District
  staff. All teachers, administrators,
  and other District personnel are
expected to respect the rights and
  privileges of students. [See DH
  series]
        DRESS CODE
                PURPOSE
• The District’s dress code is
  established to teach grooming and
  hygiene, instills discipline, prevent
  disruption, avoid safety hazards, and
  teach respect for authority.
        DRESS CODE
           GENERAL GUIDELINES
• Students shall be dressed and groomed in
a manner that is clean and neat and that
will not be a health or safety hazard to
  themselves or others. The District
prohibits any clothing or grooming that in
the principal’s judgment may reasonably be
expected to cause disruption of or
  interference with normal school
  operations.
          DRESS CODE
The District prohibits pictures, emblems, or writings
   on clothing that:
1. Are lewd, offensive, vulgar, or obscene.
2. Advertise or depict tobacco products, alcoholic
beverages, drugs, or any other substance
   prohibited under FNCF (LEGAL).
The student and parent may determine the student’s
personal dress and grooming standards, provided
that they comply with the general guidelines set
out above and with the student dress code
   outlined in the student handbook.
        VIOLATIONS
                 GROOMING
• If the principal determines that a
  student’s grooming violates the dress
code, the student shall be given an
opportunity to correct the problem at
school. If not corrected, the student shall
be assigned to in-school suspension for the
remainder of the day or until the problem
  is corrected.
          VIOLATIONS
                        DRESS
• A student whose clothing violates the dress code
shall be assigned to in-school suspension either
for the remainder of the day or until a parent or
designee brings an acceptable change of clothing
  to the school.
• Repeated dress code offenses may result in more
  serious disciplinary action. Appropriate discipline
procedures shall be followed in all cases in
accordance with the Student Code of Conduct.
  [See FO series]
 TELECOMMUNICATIONS
       DEVICES
• ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATION DEVICES
• Electronic communication devices, including personal digital
assistants, portable phones, Palm Pilots, camera phones or
any other type of electronic or imaging devices shall be
allowed during the school day, provided they are not
activated, visible, or used during the school day.
• The beginning and ending time of the school day is defined
for each school level in the appropriate student-parent
  handbook.
• EXCEPTIONS
• With teacher supervision, use of a PDA or Palm Pilot may be
  permitted.
TELECOMMUNICATIONS
      DEVICES
     CONDITIONS FOR POSSESSION
• Students with electronic communication
devices capable of emitting an audible
sound shall be required to keep them
turned off during the school day and at
  ceremonies or other school-sponsored or
school-related activities on or off school
property for which activation would be
disruptive to the event or occasion.
   TELECOMMUNICATIONS
         DEVICES
                      PENALTIES
Violations shall be handled as follows:
1. The device shall be confiscated;
2. Notification shall be made to the student’s parent
that the electronic communication device may be
   retrieved;
3. A fee of $15 shall be charged to the owner of the
device or the student’s parent for its release; and
4. In the event the student is uncooperative and/or
   disrespectful, appropriate disciplinary action shall
   be assigned.
   ATTENDANCE FOR
       CREDIT
• The Board shall establish an
  attendance committee or as many
  committees as necessary for
  efficient implementation of
  Education Code 25.092. The
  Superintendent or designee shall
  make the specific appointments in
  accordance with legal requirements.
     ATTENDANCE FOR
         CREDIT
• When a student’s attendance drops below 90 percent of
the days the class is offered, the student, parent, or
representative may request award of credit by
submitting a written petition to the appropriate
attendance committee. The attendance committee shall
review the student’s entire attendance record and the
reasons for absences, and shall determine whether to
  award credit.
• Petitions for credit may be filed at any time the student
receives notice, but in any event, no later than 30 days
after the last day of classes. The attendance committee
may review the records of all students whose attendance
drops below 90 percent of the days the class is offered,
whether or not a petition is filed.
    ATTENDANCE FOR
        CREDIT
• The Board has chosen to allow students who have
lost credit because of unexcused absences to
regain credit by fulfilling the requirements
established by the attendance committee. The
committee may set more stringent requirements
for regaining credit lost because of unexcused
  absences than in other circumstances.
• A student is unexcused when absent from school
with knowledge of the parent or guardian, but
  without permission from school officials
The attendance committee may use any of
the following options as ways to allow
students to regain credit lost for lack of
attendance:

4. Individual papers or oral reports
5. Library activity
6. Laboratory activity
7. Computer-assisted instruction

9. Assessment of classroom objectives
10. Daily or Saturday guided study
11. Alternative education assignment
12. Study hall
13. Community or campus service

  order to receive credit.
• Alternative learning activities will be assigned by teachers,
counselors, or administrators at the campus level.
Documentation of these activities shall be the responsibility
of the student and parent and shall be a major criterion in
the determination of credit(s) awarded or denied, by the
  attendance committee.
• A parent or student may appeal the decision of the
attendance committee in accordance with FNG (LOCAL)
beginning at Level Three. The Board may consider the
appeal upon written documentation or may choose to have
the hearing by trial de novo.
