ACADEMIC GRADING SCALE
Mr. Di Falco
MATH
Scientific Calculators capable of doing fractions are required. Please see
my webpage for examples of calculators that are appropriate.
The following grading scale will be applied in my classroom.
A+ 98 – 100% A = 93 – 97 % A- 90 – 92 %
B+ 87 – 89 % B = 83 – 86 % B- 80 – 82 %
C+ 77 – 79 % C = 73 – 76 % C- 70 – 72 %
D+ 67 – 69 % D = 63 – 66 % D- 60 – 62 %
F Below 60%
Students are given various opportunities to succeed. These opportunities are shown
below and the overall grade is determined by the following:
Tests and quizzes
Daily homework
Math labs
Projects
When report card time comes and a student is on the border of a grade, I will look
at their citizenship grade and take that into consideration when determining their final
grade. Students are also allowed to re-do any assignment, including most tests, receiving
almost full credit back for their work. Students will have homework every day of the
week (except Fridays or any other day followed by a non-school day). As long as
students turn in their homework on time and re-do any assignments that fall below 80%,
they will be successful.
Students are expected to keep track of their assignments and turn them in on time!
If your child is spending more than 30 minutes at home on my homework, then you
should see me privately about making accommodations (shortening their assignment).
As a parent or guardian, there are some things you can do to help your child.
Listed below are some ways you can help your child succeed:
check their student planner
check their assignment log
encourage your student to re-do assignments
request your student’s work when they are absent
encourage your student to get extra help when needed
check my website for the actual homework assignments & their grade
status. Their grade status will show missing assignments & is updated
about once a week.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding grades, please do not hesitate to
come and talk with me.

CLASSROOM RULES
for Mr. Di Falco
1.) BE RESPONSIBLE
Begin work when instructed and complete work on time.
Stay on task and follow directions
Use time wisely
Ask questions if you don’t understand.
2.) BE RESPECTFUL
LISTEN! When someone else is talking listen with
your ears open and your mouth closed.
Cooperative learning is great as long as it doesn’t
disturb anyone else. Ask first!
When you move from one activity to another, do so
quickly and quietly without disturbing anyone else.
3.) BE THERE—READY TO GO!
Come to class on time.
Come to class prepared. Prepared means with your math
book, a scientific calculator, completed homework, planner,
binder, and sharpened pencils.
CONSEQUENCES
As with all choices we make, there are consequences. If you
choose to not comply with the above rules, the following actions
will be taken:
1st: Verbal warning
2nd: Removal from the situation
(moved to time-out room or back table to
practice copying the Top 4 expectations)
rd
3 : Visit to the office
(Parent called)
Mr. D’s Top 4
Expectations
This is the bare minimum I need in order to run a productive
classroom conducive to learning.
1) Stay Seated.
2) Remain Silent.
3) Raise Hand & wait to be called on.
4) Pay Attention. Use your time productively!
I also expect that every student will show up with the following
items every day listed in order of importance:
- Textbook
- Scientific Calculator (required)
o I usually have good ones available for sale at a super
low price. If you cannot afford to buy one, you or your
child may see me privately & I will check one out to
your child. These are school property just like the
textbook and I only have limited number available. I
recommend the TI-30 XIIS because it is the easiest to
use with the most functionality. These are readily
available at most retail outlets for under $20.
- Planner
- 2 sharpened pencils & a pen just in case
- Binder with paper
Showing up without these is like having your mechanic show up
with no tools to work on your car!
