TEXT - SCIENCE 8 FOCUS (Student text # ______)
HOMEWORK - Homework is worth approximately 10 % of your mark
each reporting period. Homework must be completed,
and be in the classroom at the beginning of class (at the
bell) or you are unprepared. Each time you are
unprepared, your parents may be notified.
ABSENTEEISM - When absent from class, you are responsible for any
homework missed. Check the HOMEWORK HOTLINE, or
have a friend or family member pick up your homework.
Any missed assignments will be marked as “zero” until
handed in. If you are absent for a Unit test, you must
write it on the day you return to school at noon.
PREPARATION - You are expected to bring to class your Science 8 text
book, personal notebook, planner and all the supplies listed
on the front of this page as well as any assigned homework
to each class. Each unprepared results in a loss of 2% of
your term grade and your parent(s) may be notified.
LATE POLICY - Students are expected to be in their assigned desks at the
beginning of class. Those not seated at the bell will BE
MARKED LATE. Each late may result in a loss of 2% of your
term grade. Each time you are late, your parent(s) may be
LABS - Lab activities will be done throughout the year. Each
student is expected to participate in the set-up, the activity,
and the clean-up of each lab. As lab equipment is costly
and can also result in harm to students, proper behavior is
a must. A zero tolerance policy regarding misbehavior in
the Science Lab at all times will be strictly enforced.
Attendance is mandatory for a Lab mark to be assigned.
POWER SCHOOL - Individual student marks can be obtained over the
Internet using a student or parent password. Your student
should know how to do this. If assistance is required,
please contact the office.
