Searching Databases
• Databases are designed to help you search for
material on your topic – they do not always lead you
to full text articles. They bring together a whole host
of different journal titles and other publications
usually offering basic bibliographical details and an
abstract.
• Databases primarily exist to tell you what’s been
written on your topic – not necessarily what’s held in
the library. No library could possibly hold every single
item that’s ever been written
Databases and Full Text Articles
• Some databases will give you direct links to
their own collections of full text journals
• You need to click here
to check other possible holdings (i.e. other
electronic providers, hard copy locations etc.)
