The Legal Services Branch, Ministry of Finance requires one counsel to conduct tax prosecutions.
What can I expect to do in this role?
Duties Will Include: represent the Crown, the Minister of Finance in actions, applications, prosecutions,
appeals under provincial tax statutes and applications for judicial review. You will provide assistance and
direction to Branch staff engaged in matters before Justices of the Peace. You will represent the Ministry
of Finance Legal Services Branch on certain prosecution-related committees maintained or participated
in by the Attorney General's Legal Services Division.
Note: This position requires frequent travel throughout the province.
How do I qualify?
Membership in the law Society of Upper Canada; in depth knowledge of Ontario's tax statutes
experience in advocacy and prosecutions and/or prosecutions defense work, (regulatory or criminal
offences); knowledge of provincial court procedure, the Provincial Offences Act, rules of evidence; ability
to do research and handle own files; excellent judgment and analytical ability; interpersonal,
communication and computer skills.
