                      Secondary Mathematics Specialist
Job Goal: To develop the Region 6 ESC educational goals through effective and efficient staff development in
developmentally appropriate instructional strategies and assessment procedures to improve student achievement.


                                                 Masters Degree in Education or related field required
Qualifications                                   Certification in Mathematics
                                                 Minimum 5 years teaching experience at the High School level

                                                 High degree of professionalism including strong public relations skills
                                                 Ability to establish rapport and work in collaboration with public school and
Special Knowledge & Skills                        ESC personnel
                                                 Presentation skills; ability to provide professional development to
                                                  educators
                                                 Training and experience in mathematics
                                                 Ability to work on multiple tasks with minimal supervision
                                                 Ability to use technology effectively.
                                                 Willingness to travel.

                                                 Plan and deliver intensive, sustained professional development and
Major Responsibilities                            technical assistance in instructional strategies and content with
                                                  appropriate follow-up for mathematics
                                                 Provide training in national/state content standards and assistance to
                                                  schools in the implementation of the mathematics TEKS and preparation
                                                  for mathematics assessments
                                                 Provide staff development and technical assistance in long range
                                                  planning, curriculum alignment, and assessment in mathematics
                                                 Provide staff development in the integration of mathematics with
                                                  technology and other subjects, as appropriate
                                                 Assist with the dissemination of mathematics materials/information and
                                                  marketing of mathematics offerings
                                                 Attend conferences and meetings as appropriate to serve as a resource
                                                  for teachers and administrators on information regarding mathematics
                                                  trends and materials
                                                 Manage and/or assist with grant programs related to the area of
                                                  mathematics
                                                 Maintain teacher contact database
                                                 Handle calendar and workshop planning and scheduling to maximize
                                                  participation
                                                 Other duties as assigned.

Terms of Employment                              Annual Salary $46,590 - $70,535 depending on experience.
                                                 Generous holiday and benefit schedule.
