MHMDS Bureau Service (MHBS) - Service Description
Shortly PCTs and Trusts will be expected to transfer mental health minimum
dataset data to the Secondary Uses Service (SUS) in XML format.
NHAIS (part of NHS CFH) has developed a Bureau Service which removes the
problem from managing the data transfer locally.
The MHMDS Bureau service (MHBS) offers a hosted and fully maintained service
whereby data sent through to a ‘Gateway’ is received translated and then forwarded
on by our solution which will have completed and passed compliance testing for
sending secure information to the SUS database.
The service offers a number of benefits in value for money as savings can be made on
third party software, as well as on the costs of software development, hardware
upgrades and staff resources required on site with the necessary expertise to operate
The Bureau Service requires the customer to send data via sFTP in a predefined
format (.MDB) to the users folder on the bureau server. This data is then converted to
XML and forwarded onto SUS for processing by the SUS team. Reports are created
for the customer identifying what has been sent at the end of each month.
