									     TITAN (INFORMATION VISUALIZATION IN VTK)
                                     W HAT IS T ITAN ?
                                     The Titan Informatics Toolkit (www.sandia.gov/Titan) is an expansion of the Visualization
                                     Toolkit (VTK) to support the ingestion, processing, and display of informatics data. By
                                     leveraging the VTK engine, Titan provides a flexible, component based, pipeline
                                     architecture for the integration and deployment of algorithms in the fields of intelligence,
                                     semantic graph and information analysis. Our wiki is located at

                                     W HY T ITAN ?
                                     The Titan project represents one of the first software development efforts to address the
                                     merging of scientific visualization and information visualization on a substantive level.
                                     The VTK parallel client-server layer will provide an excellent framework for doing scalable
                                     analysis on distributed memory platforms.



                                     H OW DO I USE IT ?
                                     In the same way that scientific visualization applications can be built with VTK, you can
                                     now build information visualization and analysis applications with Titan. As shown in the
                                     figures to the left, applications can be built by combining the components as appropriate
                                     for your specific domain needs.



                                     H OW DO I GET IT ?
                                     All Titan development will be released into the VTK repository (www.vtk.org). Many of
                                     the current components are already under the Infovis and Views directories in VTK. Many
                                     features are in the current 5.2 release of VTK. For the most recent capabilities, download
                                     and build from CVS.



                                     C OLLABORATION O PPORTUNITIES
                                     The Titan project is currently developed and supported by Sandia National Laboratories
                                     in collaboration with Kitware Inc. and Indiana University (Boost Graph Library and Parallel
                                     Graph Library). The Titan developers are looking for collaborators. Universities,
                                     laboratories and institutions interested in open source development are all welcome.
