```									The 16,046 nursing homes in the data set range in size from 2 beds to 1,389 beds. As can
be seen in Table 1, most (45.7%) had between 61 and 120 beds. Roughly a quarter
(26.1%) had 60 or fewer beds, while 28.2% had more than 120 beds. The mean number
of beds was 104.8 while the median was 99. This suggests a positive skew with a few
nursing homes having a large number of beds inflating the mean. The standard deviation
was 65.4, indicating appreciable variation in the number of beds. (See Diagram 1.)
