(submitted by D.Bacon, Newport Beach., CA)
A. 30 years old
B. 45 years old
C. 26 years old
D. 35 years old
This is a question about the average of median. Data collected must be sorted from youngest to
oldest and the exact middle value of this list is the median. In this question, the median age
worldwide is 26 years old. So, half of the world’s population is younger than 26 and half are
older. Poor, underdeveloped countries with high birth rates (and fewer people living to old age)
account for much of this figure.
In Uganda, for example, the median age is only 15 years old. In the United States of America,
the median aged person will blow out 37 candles on their birthday cake.
