Title of the survey: Enquête Annuelle sur les Conditions de Vie des Ménages
(QUIBB_2007)

Objectives of the survey: L’enquête annuelle sur les conditions de vie des ménages en
2007(EA/QUIBB 2007) avait pour objectifs :
- d’élaborer les principaux indicateurs de bien-être social et des besoins de base de divers
groupes socio-économiques ;
- d’identifier les groupes cibles devant bénéficier des programmes d’action spéciaux conçus
par les décideurs pour répondre à leurs besoins ;
- de constater les changements qui s’opèrent dans le temps concernant le bien-être des
ménages, fournir une base de données pour la recherche sociale ;
- de contribuer à l’élaboration des divers programmes sectoriels destinés à améliorer le bien-
être de la population à travers le pays;
- de concevoir des modèles permettant d'augmenter l’impact global des choix faits en matière
de politiques, et la manière dont cet impact est réparti.

Definition of employment: Les personnes employées sont celles ayant travaillé pendant une
durée quelconque, ne serait-ce qu'une heure, au cours d'une semaine dite de référence.

Current unemployment

Definition of unemployment: Les chômeurs représentent l’ensemble des personnes en âge
de travailler sans emploi, disponibles pour travailler et qui sont effectivement à la recherche
d’un emploi, si l’on considère la définition au sens strict du Bureau International du Travail.
Toutefois, dans un pays comme le Burkina Faso, où les modes de recherche de l’emploi
relèvent surtout de démarches informelles (recommandations de parents ou de proches), en
appliquant cette définition, le phénomène de chômage peut être sous estimé. On adoptera
aussi une autre une définition plus souple qui permet de capter les chômeurs dits découragés.
Il s’agit de l’ensemble des personnes qui sont sans emploi et qui sont disponibles à en
occuper si elles en trouvaient.
