                           Memorandum (Memo report)
To: Dean, student’s welfare division
From: Chief Warden
Date: March 16, 2011
Subject: Negative effect of internet facility

Findings:
The data for the report was collected by wardens, Mess managers and Faculty. Also, the
medical reports of the students were collected from the office of the chief medical officer.

Physical Problem: The medical record shows that about 75% of the students using
computers have been complaining about some physical problems since last 6 months. Dr.
Tapan Joshi, senior chief medical officer, told me that these were the symptoms of back
pain and eye sight problem. He explained it happened due to the excessive time spent by
students in front of the computers and improper sitting posture.

Academic Performance:
Another disturbing trend has been the decline in academic standard of the students. Most
of the faculty have complained about the declining academic output of the students since
the internet facility was provided to the students. Dr. Tapan Joshi reported that students
use internet facility only for their enjoyment not for the study. The students use it for
chatting and watching movies on internet, many students live in virtual world of their
virtual friends of internet. They use excessively the social networking sites. Proper use is
necessary but improper use should be avoided. This is an alarming fact and the trend
must be stopped as soon as possible.
Recommendations:
 Proper time table and scheduled should be made for all the students
 Cyber roam should be activated
 Awareness should be raised about the physical problems which is caused by
       computer
 The computer lab must be shut down 12 P.M to 9 A.M
                                                                                         7

I hope this report will give you an insight into the nature of the problem and also its
possible solutions. I would be glad to provide any clarification or additional information
required in this regard.

                                                                  Amit Shukla
                                                                 Chief Warden

The district collector, Junjunu is concerned about the rapid increase in the number of the
road accidents in Pilani. The chairman, Municipal Corporation, Pilani, Has been asked to
submit a report investigating measures to improve the situation. (Prepare an outline)

To: The district collector, Junjunu
From: The chairman, Municipal corporation
Date: March 16, 2011
Subject: Rapid increase in the number of the road accidents in Pilani

Findings:
The data for the report is collected by Traffic police, local people who stay nearby the
highway number 5, near Pilani. Also, the report is collected from the all colleges which
are situated near Highway number 5.

Problems:
The problem of very high traffic on the high way number 5 is raised due to the block of
highway number 8 which passed near by highway number 5 and traffic jam can be seen
and many accident cases are increased. Another reason for accident cases is that the
traffic police is not able to handle traffic on highway 5, they have limited number of
police in traffic and can’t control the heavy rush and the college students drive very fast
and rough on this highway. The local people say that the college youth is more
                                                                                           8

responsible for the accident as they don’t care about safety rules and avoid the use of
helmet.

Recommendation:
 Highway number 8 which is blocked due to Road construction should be open as
          soon as possible.
 Traffic police should be arranged from the other region for help.
 Seminar on traffic rules and safety should be arranged in all the colleges of Pilani
 Helmet should be compulsory and checking should be strict.

I hope this report will give you an insight into the nature of the problem and also its
possible solutions. I would be glad to provide any clarification or additional information
required in this regard.
