PASMA reacts to Hoban appointment in
Government reshuffle
PASMA has reacted to the news that Mark Hoban MP is to take
over from Chris Grayling as Employment Minister with
responsibility for health and safety
PASMA has reacted to the news that Mark Hoban MP is to take over from Chris
Grayling as Employment Minister with responsibility for health and safety,
welcoming his appointment and expressing the hope that his transition into the role
will be smooth during this time of reform in the sector.

As the lead trade association for mobile access towers, PASMA has a keen interest
in workplace health and safety, which comes under Mr Hoban’s new portfolio. With
the Lofstedt Review on health and safety reforms currently being implemented, and
a review on their progress to commence in November, it is important that the
government’s goals in this area remain consistent.

Roger Verallo, PASMA’s Chairman, said: “We would like to welcome Mr Hoban to his
new role, it will be interesting to see how he develops the role of health and safety
in business particularly given his experience with reform and regulation. This is a
time of change in health and safety regulation, and we hope that progress to
introduce the health and safety reforms decided last year continue smoothly with
his appointment.”

Since the 2010 General Election, Mr Hoban has been in the Treasury as Financial
Secretary, with responsibilities including reform and regulation within banking and
finance.

Mr Hoban’s predecessor, Chris Grayling, commissioned the Lofstedt Review in March
2011. One of its main recommendations, accepted by the government, was to
reduce unnecessary regulation for businesses
