Modus Operandi Narrative
On September 7, 2008, I was dispatched on special detail to 4937 Hopespring Drive, in reference to a candlelight vigil at the Anthony (Casey Anthony) home. Upon arrival, I met with Ms. Patricia Young (victim 1) and Mr. Larry Donovan (victim 2) who advised that they were Battered by Mr. George Anthony (defendant). Ms. Patricia Young (victim 1) stated the following: Ms Young was protesting on the public side of the driveway at Anthony's home. Ms. Young advised that she was standing with several other people who had gathered there also. Ms Young stated that Mr. Anthony told another man, later identified as Mr. Donovan (victim 2), to get off of his (Mr. Anthony) property. She observed Mr. Anthony grab Mr. Donovan and push him backwards. Ms. Young stated that Mr. Anthony then grabbed her by the arm and push her back toward the roadway. Ms. Young advised that they were not standing on private property, but were on the public right of way. She pointed to a location of the Anthony's driveway, approximately two feet off of the roadway, between the roadway and the sidewalk. injured. She refused medical treatment at the scene. Mr. Larry Donovan (victim 2) stated the following: Mr. Donovan stated the he was protesting at 4937 Hopespring Drive when Mr. Anthony demanded that Mr. Donovan get off of his property. Mr. Donovan stated that he told Mr. Anthony that he was not on his property but was standing on the public right of way. He stated that Mr Anthony lunged at him, grabbed both of his arms, and pushed him back 3 to 4 feet toward the roadway. Mr. Donovan advised that he observed Mr. Anthony turn his attention to Ms. Young. He advised Ms. Young was also standing in the public right of way at the time. He observed Mr. Anthony grab Ms. Young and push her onto the roadway. Mr Donovan advised that he was not injured but did feel shaken by the incident. Mr. Donovan pointed to a location of the Anthony's driveway where he was standing, approximately three feet off of the roadway, between the roadway and the sidewalk. Mr Donovan refused medical treatment at the scene. I met with a witness, Ms. Brandy Orr, (witness 1), who was protesting at 4937 Hopespring Drive. She stated that she observed Mr. Anthony grab Mr. Donovan first, and then Ms. Young, pushing them back to the street. Ms. Orr advised she could not remember exactly where the victims were standing at the time of the incident, or what words may have been said to the victims. I saw no visible injuries on Ms. Young. I saw no visible injuries on Mr. Donovan. Both of the victims advised me that the Channel 9 news crew had filmed the incident when it occurred. I approached Mr. Kenneth Moton, who is a Reporter for Channel 9 News, and asked him if I could view the incident that he video taped. He allowed me to view the video tape of the incident at the scene. I observed and heard the victims and the suspect clearly. I observed Mr. Anthony tell the victims to leave his property and I observed Mr. Anthony push both of the victims backwards toward the roadway. Both victims were standing on the driveway, between the roadway and the sidewalk at the time of the incident. I gave both of the victims a business card with an OCSO phone number and a case number. I spoke to Mr. George Anthony (defendant) at his residence. I advised Mr Anthony that I was making a report of the incident and wanted to give him an opportunity to make a statement concerning his side of the story. I advised Mr. Anthony that he was under no obligation to make a written statement, but that I would take the statement if he wanted to write one. Mr. Anthony stated the protestors were on his property and he asked them to leave. Mr. Anthony stated that he put his left hand on the right should of Mr. Donovan and moved him backwards off of his property. He then put his left hand on Ms. Young's right shoulder and moved her back to the roadway. He stated no one was injured during the incident, only verbal unpleasantness was exchanged. I gave Mr. Anthony a business card with a OCSO phone number and a case number. This case will be filed with the State Attorney's Office. Channel 9 advised that a copy of their video of the incident can be obtained by contacting Channel 9 Supervisor
