Permanent Residence        Permanent Resident aliens cards (I-551) that are               YES
Card I-551                 expired are acceptable. OMV staff should notify
                           advice the customer that they need to renew the card
                           through The Department of Homeland Security.
                           After approval for permanent residency, it may take
                           up to eighteen months one year to receive the
                           Permanent Resident Card. The alien Immigrant will
                           have an I-551 stamp in the passport proving their
                           resident status. Some aliens Immigrants may have an
                           I-94 or an unexpired reentry document with the I-551
                           stamp. The Department of Homeland Security may
                           also indicate on the passport visa that it is temporary
                           proof of permanent residency (I-551).
                           Note: I-151's are no longer acceptable.

485                      Applicants in the pending stage must show a receipt
                         of application to The Department of Homeland
                         Security. The receipt will contain the applicants
                         name, fees paid, and the application name. The
                         applicant may have an employment authorization
                         document during the pending process.
                         Once approved for permanent residency, the passport
                         will have a Department of Homeland Security stamp,
                         "Processing for I-551." This stamp is proof of legal
                         presence. The employment authorization document
                         is picked up once this stamp is placed in the passport.
                         Permanent resident cards takes up to 18 months to be
                         issued.
Refugee   A person who is outside their country of nationality     YES
          who is unable or unwilling to return to that country
          because of persecution is a refugee.
          Refugees may or may not have a passport in their
          possession when applying for permanent status. The
          applicant must have form I-94 with a status code
          indicating refugee. Applicants should present an
          employment authorization document.


Asylee    An alien Immigrant in the United States or port of       YES

          to their country of nationality or to seek the
          protection of that country because of persecution is
          an asylee.
          Applicant may also present an Asylum Approval
