 Compound Sentences
   What you need to know
A Compound Sentence is made up
of two or more simple sentences.
You can make a compound
sentence by combining two or
more simple sentences with a
comma and a joining word.
            Example:
Elena hit a baseball. It went over the
fence.
Combine the two simple
sentences to form a compound
sentence.
Elena hit a baseball, and it went over
the fence
       Another Example

Angela bought a new dress. Angela’s
new dress didn’t fit.
Compound Sentence
Angela bought a new dress, but it did
not fit.
      Try it on your own
We need a stoplight at the corner.
There will be an accident someday.
Form a Compound Sentence:
Answer
 We need a stoplight at the
corner, or there will be an
accident someday.
Luis kicked the soccer ball. The
soccer ball went into the net!
Form a Compound Sentence:
Answer
Luis kicked the soccer ball, and it
went into the net!
We went to L.A. last year. Now we
want to see Boston.
Form a Compound Sentence:
Answer
We went to L.A. last year, but
