From the Commander
Hello Comrades,
Well we are off to another good year. It was nice to have 4 members attend the district meeting, it shows 2nd district 8320 is a thriving post, and a post to be modeled after. Let’s get started on our membership, and get that out of the way for the New Year. I also like seeing all the new faces at the meetings, this to is a good sign. Don’t forget our members overseas. Comrades don’t be scared to ask questions, or bring up new ideas; this is what makes a good post when we have everybody’s input. We have a lot of work ahead of us so let us roll up our sleeves and get it done. Therefore, I hope to see everyone in November, and let us keep this post a vibrant and active post for all to see.

Honoring a Real Hero Comrades
Just a few things that are going on in your Post on the 22nd of Sept our Commander Troy and Quartermaster Bill attended the American Legion Post 449’s monthly meeting. This was a special occasion as we were invited to help Honor Officer John Krahn. He was given many certificates and awards that night. Here in the picture Commander Troy is presenting a Plaque from Our Post for his heroism that day, Memorial Day 26 May 2009, when he help save a Mother and her Son from a terrible car train accident. He has a long road to go, but he said he is recovering slowly.

Comrades,
Greetings to everyone. It is still 2009 yet summer has ended and autumn has begun. With that, we have Veterans Day (also known as Armistice Day – after the declaration of the Armistice that ended World War I on November 11, 1918) coming up. This year, November 11 falls on Wednesday. On this date, we pay respect to veterans of all wars and conflicts. In addition, we as members of the VFW also go out to our communities and share buddy poppies with the local citizenry. We will be conducting our Buddy Poppy Distribution on Friday, November 6th and Saturday, November 7th (10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. on both days) at various grocery stores and post offices. In dedication to the men who fought and died in France and Belgium during World War I (the buddy poppy is the memorial flower which bore silent witness at Flanders Fields), it is hoped that we can both commemorate those who have gone before us and assist those who are currently in need. So, please donate your time and effort to help your fellow veterans, especially those less fortunate.
Thank you. James Zaleski Sr. Vice Cmdr. & Poppy Chairman
