Archery is a sport which people compete in all over the
world. A person that competes in archery is called an
archer. Archers must have great vision and extraordinary
amounts of skill.
Archery was introduced as a permanent Olympic sport in
1972. When competing, archers stand 70 metres away from
the target. They have 40 seconds to make their shot, and
can fire the arrow at speeds of up to 240 km per hour. Each
target has 10 circles with the centre shot being worth 10
points. Archers shoot 6 arrows during each round, with the
highest combined score the winner.
