It’s hard to believe that summer is over and another school year is upon us. I trust you all had time to enjoy some
quality time with your family over the summer. I once again can not thank you enough for allowing me the
opportunity to be a part of your teenagers’ lives. They are such a joy and inspiration to me. I hope you realize
the potential that your son or daughter has when they fully commit their lives to Christ! Thank you for your
support and encouragement!
I am so excited to see what God has for us in this new school year. Over the summer, many students lives have
been changed through summer services, Street Invaders, and missions trips. There is a excitement and
anticipation building as we step out in faith and dare to believe God for supernatural increase in our lives, our
church, and our city.
TIMES, THEY ARE A CHANGIN’
There are some changes that I want to make sure you Our mandate from God here at SSY is to ENGAGE,
aware of. God has been speaking to me over the EQUIP, and EXTEND. We desire to see students
summer about the vision and direction for the youth ENGAGE their faith, EQUIP themselves as disciples, and
ministry this fall. I naturally tend to want to complicate EXTEND themselves in service.
things and over think, but I felt God speak to my heart
and say, “Keep the discipleship of students simple, First of all, we desire that students “Engage” their faith
clear and purposeful.” I began to pray about how and experience God. This is accomplished through
we can make the process simple and easy to various outreach events, Merge services, and retreats
understand. God gave me an idea! It is simply, “E3.” throughout the year. Secondly, we desire that our
students not just come to faith in Jesus, but “Equip”
themselves as disciples. This is accomplished mainly
through our Core Small Group programs and our
Middle School Sunday School throughout the year.
This is giving students an opportunity to explore faith in
Jesus, dig into the Word of God, and walk it out in their
daily lives. Lastly, we desire students to “Extend”
themselves in service. It’s our desire that students learn
how to put faith into action by being involved in
ministries within the church and be involved in local
and global missions projects. We believe that students
are most effective when engaged in all 3 of these
areas of ministry. With that said, there are some
changes that have been made to some of the
programs at SSY.

We have also made some changes in the
Youth Dance Ministry. We have organized our
dance teams into two focuses this year. We
have an outreach based Recreation team that
is open to all students regardless of where they
are in their journey of faith. We have also
started a new Ministry focused team this year.
This class is geared towards those students who
have a strong and committed walk with the
Lord and have a desire to minister at various
events through the expression of dance.
Dance classes have been moved to Tuesdays
for Middle and High School.
There is still a College/Career Dance Team meeting on
Monday evenings at 6pm. Please see Meaghan Hardy or the church office for more information.
I am so thankful and appreciate Katherine Jutras (White), Anna Larmer, and Meaghan Hardy for their
dedication and commitment to the dance ministries here at SSC! Please be sure to thank them for their
countless hours of service and hard work!
