       A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor and loving memory of Attwell

Turner of Kona, Kentucky.

       WHEREAS, Attwell Turner was born September 23, 1932, and was the son of the

late Cledis and Sarah Moore Turner. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Alen

and Ancil Turner, and one sister, Iwanna Moore; and

       WHEREAS, Attwell Turner departed from this life on December 21, 2007, at the

University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. He was predeceased by

his beloved wife, Peggy Bentley Turner, and leaves behind three daughters, Belinda
Turner, Debra Lucas, and Dwanna Taylor; five brothers, Ervil, Vernal, Glenn, Shiron, and

Denzil Turner; six sisters, Fonetta Boyd, Jeanette Hoover, Linda Prater, Lana Leach,

Violet Roe, and Dana Collins; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and a host of

other beloved relatives and friends; and

       WHEREAS, Attwell Turner was a retired school teacher and had also been a bus

driver for many years for the Letcher County School System. He was a current member of

the Letcher County Board of Education; and

       WHEREAS, Attwell Turner spent his life in service to others. He was a dedicated

teacher who wanted bright futures for his students and helped them in every way he

could. He took great pride in their accomplishments and unselfishly gave of his time and

talents to make positive differences in the lives of others. His passing has left a great void

in the lives of those who knew and loved him, and he will be greatly missed;

       NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of

Kentucky:
       Section 1. The Senate expresses its deepest sympathy in the passing of Attwell

Turner and extends its most sincere condolences to his family, friends, former students
and members of the Letcher County Board of Education, and to the residents of Letcher

County.

       Section 2.   When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor and loving

memory of Attwell Turner.
