B- Professional Information

   1- Programme Aim

               This programme is aiming at preparing graduates, with
               knowledge, understanding and practice that enable
               them to function as a professional nurse in any setting
               (in a variety of practice settings) where people need
               nursing care to meet the current and future health
               needs of society.

a - Knowledge and Understanding:

        At the end of the program graduates should be able to:

a 1- Acquire scientific knowledge that will help in           caring for the patient with different
     problems.

a 2 – List principals of human needs in determining the patients problems, and figuring out
      nursing care

a 3 - Differentiate between different methods of drug administration.

a 4 - Determine    nutritional requirements and its elements for different age groups

a 5 - Discuss the manger role related to patient's unit and personnel

a 6 - Discuss how to manage the department needs for equipment and supplies necessary for
       patient's care.

3- Academic Standards

1. Mission and Governance
The program of the nursing faculty has clear mission and philosophy which are consistent
with those of the governing university. They reflect commitment to socially responsible
standards of professional nursing.

Required Criteria
    MG.1.1 Mission and philosophy of the program is consistent with that of the governing
            university, and the differences are justified by the nursing program purposes.

    MG.1.2 Faculty administrators and students participate as appropriate in governance of
              the university and the nursing faculty.

    MG.1.3 Nursing faculty is administered by a nurse academically and experientially
          qualified, and who has authority & responsibility for administration and
          development of the program.

            MG.1.3.1 The faculty administrator shall be accountable for the academic and
                     administrative staff members

            MG.1.3.2 The faculty administrator shall has the responsibility and authority for
                    planning and allocating resources in accordance with university policies
                    and procedures and with nursing faculty member involvement

            MG.1.3.3. The administrators work load permits her/ him to carryout
                      administrative and leadership activities.

            MG.1.4    Policies of the nursing faculty shall be consistent with those of the
                       governing university and differences are justified by the nursing
                       faculty purpose

2 Faculty
The program has qualified and credentialed faculty, appropriate to accomplish the nursing
faculty purposes and strengthen its educational effectiveness.

Required Criteria
        F. 2.1 Faculty members are academically and experientially qualified and maintain
                expertise appropriate to education, services, research and scholarly
                responsibilities.

        F.2.2 Number and utilization of faculty members meet the needs of the nursing faculty
                to fulfill its purposes.

        F.2.3. Faculty performance is periodically evaluated to assure ongoing development
                  and competence.

3. Students
The program assures teaching and learning environment conducive to student academic
achievements and lifelong learning

Required Criteria
      S.3.1 Student policies are consistent with the governing university, publicly, accessible,
                non discriminatory, and utilized. Differences are justified by the nursing
                faculty purposes.

      . S.3.2 Students have access to support services administrated by qualified individual
                that include but are not limited to health, counseling, academic advancement
                career placement and financial aid.

       S.3.2 Programs and faculty have policies regarding maintenance of educational
             records.

4. Curriculum
The curriculum of all nursing programs including master and doctorate are consistent with the
philosophy and mission of the nursing faculty.

Required Criteria
      C.4.1 The length of the curriculum is designed so that students can achieve program
            objectives and acquire skills, (cognitive, psychomotor and affective) and
            competencies necessary for the provision of nursing and health services.

            C.4.1.1 Curriculum development shall be the responsibility of the nursing faculty.

             C.4.1.1 Courses shall have written syllabi indicating learning experiences &
                      requirements.

      C.4.2 Practical learning environment shall be selected and monitored by the faculty and
            provide opportunities for a variety of learning options appropriate for
            contemporary nursing.

5. Resources
The program has effectively organized processes and human, fiscal, physical resources
necessary to accomplish its purposes

Required Criteria
        R.5.1 The nursing faculty shall have fiscal resources that are adequate to support its
                goals and are commensurate with resources of the university.

                R.5.1.1 The administrator shall make budget recommendations with input
                         from the faculty and administrative staff.

                R.5.1.2 The administrator shall manage the budget according to university
                         policies.

      R.5.2 The nursing faculty shall have physical facilities that are appropriate to support its
               purposes and commensurate with those of the university.

                R.5.2.1 The nursing faculty shall have a library and /or learning resource
                       center with the following:
                       R.5.2.1.1 Current holdings to meet          students' learning and
                                 educational needs, faculty instructional needs and
                                 scholarly activities.

                         R.5.2.1.2 Budget plan for the acquisition of printed and multimedia
                                   materials.

                         R.5.2.1.3 Written process for identifying and deleting outdated
                                   holdings

                     R. 5.2.1.4 A master's degree qualified librarian to direct the library
                                processes

            R. 5.2.2 All faculty programs shall have classrooms and clinical skills laboratory
                         equipped with necessary educational resources as follows.

                     R.5.2.2.1 Available at scheduled time.

                     R.5.2.2.2 Adequate in size for number of students.

                     R.5.2.2.3 Climate controlled, ventilated, lighted and equipped with
                               seating, furnishing.

                     R.5.2.2.4 Adequate storage space shall be available.

                     R.5.2.2.5 All facilities shall be in compliance with applicable university
                               rules and regulations related to environmental safety.

            R. 5.2.3. The faculty shall have private offices for administrator and faculty
                       members, conducive to the duties of their positions.

6. Educational effectiveness
A variety of teaching and learning methods are used in addition to traditional approaches

      E.E. 6.1 Self learning modules and role play

      E.E. 6.2 Participatory approaches (group work, seminars, workshops, panel discussion,
                journal).

      E.E. 6.3 Creative thinking approaches (small research projects, brain storming)

      E.E. 6.4 Clinical learning occurs in a variety of settings

      E.E. 6.5 Faculty should be responsive to the learning needs of individual student and
                provide them with appropriate opportunities to attain educational objectives

      E.E. 6.6 Clinical and field work settings shall have a written educational objectives and
                evaluation of students at different levels.

7. Student Assessment

Objectives and guidelines for students' assessment in theoretical and clinical courses should
be available.

Required Criteria

      S.A.7.1 Student progress in developing clinical skills shall be continuously assessed.

                S.A. 7.1.1 Students' satisfactory completion of courses is evaluated by
                            semester examination.

8. Program Evaluation

There should be an ongoing continuous systematic evaluation of all programs' components
for maintenance, development, and renewal.

Required Criteria

          PE.8.1 The evaluation plan shall include the required and selected outcome criteria,
                  which are consistent with the mission of the faculty.

                  PE.8.1.1 Critical thinking that reflect students' skills in reasoning, analysis,
                              research, or decision making relevant to the discipline of
                              nursing.

                  PE.8.1.2 Communication abilities in areas such as written, oral, and
                            nonverbal communication, group process, information
                            technology and / or media production.

                  PE.8.1.3 Therapeutic nursing intervention that reflects students' abilities to
                             perform      theory-based    nursing     intervention   including
                             psychomotor & psychosocial therapeutics directed to
                             individuals, and / or aggregates and community.

                  PE.8.1.4 Graduation rates that reflects students' entering the program, length of
                             time of the program and members graduated. Other issues could
                             include step out and identified at risk students.

                  PE.8.1.5 Optional outcomes criteria shall include:

                            PE.8.1.5.1Program satisfaction that reflects the satisfaction level

6- Programme Admission Requirement:
    1- Student apply to the undergraduate program must have the certificate of the high
       secondary school (scientific section).
    2- Graduates from the Technical Health Institute could apply to the second year
       undergraduate study, provided that they have 75% of the total scores
    3- Graduates of the Secondary Technical Nursing Schools are allowed to apply for
       the undergraduate program according the Supreme Council of the Universities
       rules
    4- The English language must be the first foreign language with the exception for
       the language school graduates
    5- Students who apply must pass the interview procedures.



7- Regulation for Progression and Programme Completion

  - For all the students enrolled in the undergraduate program, they will not permitted to
    attend the written exam if they:

    1. Attend less than 75% of the clinical experience period
    2. Have less than 60% scores in the clinical experience grades.

- Students who failed to pass in any number of the two semesters must attend a
   rewrite exam. If they didn't pass it, they will re-attend the same year .

- For the student have causes that hinder them to attend the written exam have the right to
  postpone to the rewrite examination

- Student must succeed in all subjects to pass to the next level/year
