					THE BUTTERFLY LIFE CYCLE

     By Madeline
Egg

 The first stage in a
  Butterfly’s Life Cycle
  is the egg.
 The egg is laid by the
  female Butterfly.
Caterpillar

• The second stage in the
  Life Cycle of a Butterfly
  is the caterpillar.
• When the caterpillar
  hatches, it will become
  very hungry and begin
  to eat the eggshell.
• When it eats, it will get
  gradually bigger and
  begin to molt.
Pupa

 After molting one last
  time, the caterpillar
  forms a silk button
  and forms a chrysalis.
 While in the pupa
  stage, the caterpillar’s
  eyes and other parts
  located near or in the
  head melt away.
Adult Butterfly

 Soon, a newly born
  butterfly will emerge
  from its chrysalis and
  start drying it’s
  wings.
 After the fluids have
  been pumped to the
  butterfly’s parts, it
  will spread its wings
  and take off.
