The hiring process from the standpoint of any applicant no matter what industry or pay
grade should be to shine overall the other job candidates. And if done properly it should be
done at every stage of the hiring process. This 6 step process was created to show how to
do just that.
STEP 1: THE RESEARCH
There will be many that show up for an interview completely equipped with a decent
resume, vast experience and education, and even may ace the interview but it is the

STEP 3: THE VIDEO RESUME
There will be many candidates that may apply for any given job, sometimes as many
as a hundred or more and it is up to each applicant to find a positive and professional
way to shine above the competition. A brief, tailored video that summarizes your
strengths, knowledge and determination might be just the thing to stand out from
STEP 4: A GREAT RESUME
There will be a lot of resumes. And within the huge pile of dossiers shines this one
great resume that is clean and inviting; it has specific information on it that matches
the job description; it has clear and understandable points about the applicant and it
is free of irrelevant information about hobbies and interests. This is an ideal resume
that is sure to stand out from the rest.
STEP 6: THE INTERVIEW
There will be a lot of applicants to interview even after the initial screening process.
And within the interview there are going to be a lot of questions to answer. By
rehearsing the correct responses and going over the company research the applicant
will be more relaxed and comfortable when the interview begins. It is these relaxed
and prepared applicants that will stand out from the rest.
STEP 7: THE FOLLOW UP
There will be many applicants that leave the interview and wait for a call or even
attempt to call back a couple of days thinking that is as much as they can do. It’s
actually best to collect contact information from all the recruiters to send them a
thank you email or hand written note. These ones that show perseverance by also
checking back will show more interest for the job and stand out from the rest.
