                                         JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE:             Director, eCommerce & Web Services
DEPARTMENT:            Information Technology
REPORTS TO:            VP, Information Technology
SALARY GRADE:          E14

POSITION SUMMARY
Manage day-to-day operations of Jewelers Mutual’s online/web presence across the organization.
Own and delegate tasks, as appropriate, pertaining to the design, configuration, and installation &
management of eCommerce/online & web services.

Management Responsibilities: Provide appropriate management of: enterprise eCommerce; web
portals (Internet, Extranet – Agents & Intranet); internal workflow/employee collaboration software;
Unified Communications; Interactive Voice Response portal; IT Project Portfolio management to
support PMO; and associated online information security, windows-based servers and all aspects of
mid-range server(s) associated with web development. Administrate all personnel issues of direct
reports.

Technical Responsibilities: Systems administration support (partnership with Dir, Infrastructure) related
to eCommerce/web systems; Support and manage the delivery and service management of
Unified Communicatinos system & IVR, mobile/wireless device computing. Ensure annual testing of
Disaster Recovery related to eCommerce/web systems & services and in coordination with BCP
resources.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, and are to be performing personally or
through subordinates – and facilitate other duties as assigned

   Overall responsibility for the following eCommerce/web applications & systems: PJ eCommerce
    application, PJ Express on Jewelersmutual.com; Support dynamic & static content on Internet,
    Extranet & Intranet domains; Support and develop solutions for JM University application/system;
    Unified Communications partner to develop and design future eCommerce/online and web
    services with Line staff (Sales/Marketing, Commercial Lines & Personal Lines) management
   Participates in defining strategic approach to developing solutions for the Internet/web systems
   Accountable for the development of highly de-coupled and reusable business and data access
    objects; Understands and has experience in service-oriented (development) concepts
   Assists with linking Web servers to database systems
   Analyzes the interface between hardware and software to maximize performance of systems
   Accountable for development of proficient software code related to individual software
    components and Internet applications
   Designs, develops automated functional/performance scripts and tools to validate functionality
   Supports the design, development & maintainence of the enterprise application architecture of
    eCommerce and related web solutions across enterprise
   Creates detailed architecture plans; Defines functional requirements of the eCommerce
    solutions and designs solutions to meet requirements
   Conceptualizes long-term eCommerce/web-development businenss needs
   Drives the planning and managing of related eCommerce/web services projects
   Accountable for design of common client services (user interface) to ensure a superior online
    Customer Experience
   Accountable for the documentation of eCommerce & web services software patching

   Consult with department managers – developing ecomerce and web/online solutions consistent
    with organizational strategic initiatives
   Participate in preparation of departmental budget for hardware, software, training,
    maintenance, and support related to eCommerce/online and web services initiatives
   Negotiate contracts & coordinate activities of software, software support and training vendors
    associated with eCommerce/online & web prescense
   Perform annual personnel performance evaluations of subordinates, and administrate any
    personnel issues
   Report and resolve software, hardware, and operations issues related to eCommerce/online &
    web services through effective communication within IT leadership and other departments
   Suppor t the development, documentation and implemention of disaster recovery procedures,
    along with annual testing related to eCommerce/online & web services
   Research and evaluate new technologies and best-practice business solutions related to
    eCommerce/online and web services
   Ensure the development of Project management skills across subordinates. Project time lines,
    budget, task-list and status reports for small, medium, and large projects across Jewelers Mutual.
   Collect and analyze network utilization data for performance tuning and capacity planning.
   Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software.
   Participate on additional projects and/or project teams to achieve company goals and
    objectives as necessary

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises 2 to 4 employees. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the
organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training
employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and
disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Fosters team environment
and development, coaching, and counseling of subordinates.

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university; or four to eight years of technical
management experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Continued self-development in both technical and managerial skills considered a plus.

COMPUTER SKILLS
 Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft suite of applications including Word, Excel, Outlook,
  PowerPoint and Access
 5-10 years experience in the development and/or support of enterprise-tier web/online
  applications (within Java and/or .NET development environment)
 Demonstrated proficiency in SEO (Search-Engine-Optimization) metrics and utilization; with
  ability to drive necessary enterprise/web changes to support increased web traffic
 Strong preference given to candidates who have lead eCommerce/web solutions delivery
  within the Financial Services industry
