PLEASE EITHER PRINT, OR READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS COMPLETELY BEFORE PROCEEDING
Before starting, make sure that the scanner is NOT connected to your computer Downloading the Driver to your Desktop 1. Click on the link below to begin downloading the driver to your desktop https://docs.symbol.com/downloads/1504USB2KXP-20018.zip 2. The File Download window will be shown 3. Click on ‘Save’ to continue
4. The Save As window will be shown 5. Select ‘Desktop’ as your file location 6. Over-key the filename to ‘booker scanner’. This will help you identify the file easily in the future 7. Click on ‘Save’ to begin the download

The Download Complete window will appear Click on ‘Close’ to continue
10. Click on the desktop icon to show your desktop files 11. An icon called ‘booker scanner’ will now be displayed 12. Right click this icon and select ‘Extract All’
13. The Extract Compressed (Zipped) Folders window will appear 14. Click on ‘Browse’ to select the relevant file destination
15. The Select a Destination window will appear 16. Click on ‘Computer’ 17. Then select ‘Local Disk (C:)’ (or whatever you have named your hard drive) 18. Click on ‘OK’ to continue
19. The Extract Compressed (Zipped) Folders window will now be shown. Click on ‘Extract’ to extract the driver files to your C:\ drive
20. This window should now be displayed. Check that you have a file within your Local (C:) drive named 2k_XP 21. Click on the X to close this window
Connecting the USB Scanner 22. Plug the scanner into any available USB port on your computer 23. The Found New Hardware window will appear 24. Click on ‘Locate and install driver software (recommended)’ This may take up to 2-3 minutes NB: If you get any security warnings, simply click ‘Continue’ to proceed.
Dependent on the settings on your computer, you MAY see this Found New Hardware – USB Serial Controller window If you have this window displayed select ‘Don’t Search Online’ to continue
25. The Found New Hardware – USB Serial Controller window will be displayed prompting you to insert a disc. Select ‘I don’t have the disc. Show me other options’ to continue
26. The Found New Hardware – USB Serial Controller window will be displayed advising that ‘Windows couldn’t find driver software for your device’. Click on ‘Browse my computer for driver software (advanced)’ to continue
27. The Found New Hardware – USB Serial Controller window is shown on your Computer. Click on ‘Browse’ to continue
28. The Browse for Folder window is displayed. Click on ‘Computer’ 29. Then select ‘Local Disc (C:)’ 30. Select the folder named ‘2k_XP’ 31. Click on ‘OK’ to continue
32. The Found New Hardware – USB Serial Controller window will be displayed. Select ‘Next’ to begin installation
33. During installation the Found New Hardware – USB Serial Controller window will be displayed advising that the driver software is being installed
34. The Found New Hardware – Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port window will be displayed when the software has been successfully installed. 35. Click on ‘Close’ to continue
Cleaning up your Desktop Once the software has been installed the booker software icon should be removed from your Desktop to clean it up. 36. Click on the Desktop icon on your computer 37. Right click the ‘booker scanner’ icon on your desktop 38. Select ‘Delete’ to remove the icon from your desktop 39. The Delete Folder window will be displayed. Click on ‘Yes’ to proceed 40. Your scanner is now successfully installed and ready for use!
