BOARD JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE
President Elect
JOB SUMMARY
The President Elect serves as both the Sustainer Liaison and Transfer Liaison. The PE
attends quarterly Sustainer meetings and helps foster communication and involvement
between Actives and Sustainers. As Transfer Liaison, the PE reaches out to new transfers
and serves as a mentor if necessary.
The President Elect serves as the liaison to Area III of AJLI. She is required to attend
national AJLI meetings. Additionally, the PE may begin to assume spokesperson role and
accompanies President to community meetings and events. The President will introduce
the PE into continuing relationships between community leaders and League leaders. In
agreement with the President, begins formal and informal networking in the community.
The PE will have working knowledge of governing documents – Mission, Vision, bylaws
and standing rules, strategic plan, history of League (local and national), as well as any
other documents that track membership satisfaction, evaluates programs, and/or
process. She also needs a working knowledge of recent past as reflected in Board
minutes, newsletter etc.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
One active year as committee leader or on Board. Slated in position by Nominating
Committee and Membership.
EDUCATION OR TRAINING
Required - Completion of New Member training.
Helpful but not required - Previous leadership experience within or without League
and/or previous Board experience
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Good public speaking skills, great leadership skills, enjoys working in teams, inspires
others, dedicated/passionate about the League’s Mission/The League in general, strong
community presence, organizational skills/good at prioritizing, good delegator, strong
conflict management skills, willing to get “hands dirty” and “roll-up sleeves”, self-starter.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES
Ensure prepared to take on role of President upon transference of responsibility when
necessary. Serves formally as co-leader of the League.

Board, League, President
SUPERVISES
Board, and League activities as co-leader and in event President is unable
TIME COMMITMENT
Attendance of all Board and General Meetings as well as participation in community and
fundraising events for League, and if possible, League partners. At a minimum, 10 hours
month year round.
