At the completion of this course, the student should be:
• Familiar
with
the
basic
epidemiology
methods
involved
in
clinical
research.
• Able
to
discuss
the
principles
involved
in
the
ethics
of
clinical
research,
the
legal
issues
involved
in
clinical
research,
and
the
regulations
involved
in
human
subjects
research,
including
the
role
of
IRBs
in
clinical
research.
• Familiar
with
the
principles
and
issues
involved
in
monitoring
patient‐oriented
research.
• Able
to
discuss
the
infrastructure
required
in
performing
clinical
research
and
to
have
an
understanding
of
the
steps
involved
in
developing
and
funding
research
studies.
This
course
will
be
of
interest
to
physicians
and
other
health
professionals
training
for
a
career
in
clinical
research.
Requirement
of
attendance
at
a
minimum
of
75%
(27
lectures)
of
the
35
lectures
in
the
course.
There
is
no
charge
for
the
course.
