MHS Homecoming Week 2011
Under the Big Top!!!
It is that time of year again! I know it can get hectic; however our ultimate goal is to improve school
spirit and attitude. Please take a few minutes this week and share this information with your first
hour class. Thank you for all you do to make homecoming week great.
Points will be awarded for the following:
1. Dress days – a student council member will come to your homeroom class each day to count
the number of people dressed appropriately. This includes you! You can help the class you
sponsor by participating in the dress days. If you would rather not have your class
interrupted, you can post the participation to your door for the StuCo member to pick up.
This needs to include how many students in your 1st hour participated that day and what
grade they are in.
2. Banner – banners will be given to the class president on Friday, October, 7th. We are trying
something different this year. Weather permitting, all banners and posters will need to be
hung at the football stadium by 7:40 a.m. Friday, October 21st. Each class president should
see Mrs. Penfield to find out where their grade is to hang their banners and signs. Do not
place the grade on the banner. It should reflect spirit, creativity, pride, etc. for MHS. They will
be judged Friday morning. Points will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.
3. Activities Day- beginning after attendance is taken 1st hour Friday, we will have class
Outside Activities: Students need to be picked before Friday to participate in outside
activities. Students who wish to participate in these games should see the math
teachers to sign up: Freshmen – Williams, Sophomores – Stevens, Juniors – Penfield,
Seniors – Penfield. Please do not allow students to “double-up” on the games unless
necessary. Points will be awarded for each competition.
Inside Activities: Each grade will begin at one of the four activities. They will have 5
minutes to perform the activity. Points will be awarded at each competition. All
students are expected to participate. One teacher sponsor from each grade will need to
keep score for that grade. After the 5 minutes, grades will rotate to the next
competition until all four have been completed. Point sheets will be turned in to Mrs.
During the pep rally, the week’s overall winners will be announced.
To be awarded points, each student must be dressed accordingly when the Student Council member
arrives. Anyone not participating in dress days must be in regular uniform. All attire should be
appropriate (no flip-flops, no cleavage, no midriff, no shorts, no spaghetti straps, etc.) If your outfit
is questionable, ASK BEFORE WEARING. If you are dressed inappropriately, you will be asked to call
home for a uniform, and you will not receive points for your class. Teachers will also be given points to
count with the class they sponsor.
