							Call for Nominations to NEA-New Mexico Elective Office

The NEA-New Mexico elections committee calls for nominations for offices to be elected in the
2010 all-member election. All nominations close at close of business on Tuesday, October 20,
2009. For active members, nominations are open for the following offices:

   1. NEA-New Mexico President and delegate to the NEA Representative Assembly, three
      year term beginning July 15, 2010 (all active members eligible)
   2. NEA-New Mexico Vice-president and delegate to the NEA Representative Assembly,
      three year term beginning July 15, 2010 (all active members eligible)
   3. Northeast/North Central Region Member of the NEA-New Mexico Board of Directors,
      three year term beginning July 15, 2010 (all active members of a local in the
      Northeast/North Central Region are eligible)
   4. Southeast Region Member of the NEA-New Mexico Board of Directors, three year term
      beginning July 15, 2010 (all active members of a local in the Southeast Region are
      eligible)
   5. Southwest Region Member of the NEA-New Mexico Board of Directors-Board Election
      District representing locals outside Las Cruces, completion of unexpired term beginning
      upon election and ending July 15, 2011 (all active members of a Southwest Region local,
      except Las Cruces-CSEC and NEA- Las Cruces, are eligible)
   6. Southwest Region Member of the NEA-New Mexico Board of Directors- Board Election
      District representing Las Cruces-CSEC and NEA- Las Cruces, three year term beginning
      July 15, 2010 (all active members of Las Cruces-CSEC and NEA- Las Cruces are
      eligible)
   7. Member of the NEA-New Mexico Board of Directors, representing Retired Members,
      one year term beginning July 15, 2010 (only retired members eligible to nominate and be
      nominated)
   8. Southwest Region Member of the Education Political Action Committee- Election
      District representing Las Cruces-CSEC and NEA- Las Cruces, three year term beginning
      July 15, 2010 (all active members of Las Cruces-CSEC and NEA- Las Cruces are
      eligible)
   9. Northwest Region Member of the Education Political Action Committee, three year term
      beginning July 15, 2010 (all active members of a local in Northwest Region are eligible)
   10. State Delegate to the 2010 NEA Representative Assembly (all active members who are
      not supervisors are eligible)
   11. State Category Two Delegate to the 2010 NEA Representative Assembly (all category
      two members-NEA Active members who are supervisors, NEA retired Life members,
      NEA staff Life members-are eligible)
   12. Cluster Delegate to the 2010 NEA Representative Assembly (all active members in
      locals of 75 or fewer members are eligible)
   13. Student Delegate to the 2010 NEA Representative Assembly (only student eligible to
      nominate and be nominated)
   14. Retired Delegate to the 2010 NEA Representative Assembly, (only retired members
      eligible to nominate and be nominated)

The actual number of retired board members, retired delegates and cluster delegates to be elected
will be determined by the membership figures in each category as they exist on January 15, 2010.
Student delegates to be elected will be determined by the membership figures in each category as
they exist on March 15, 2010.

RA Delegate nominees may submit a statement of up to 25 words to be published with RA
Delegate ballots. The deadline for NEA-NM receipt of candidate statements is November 7,
2009.

Candidates may nominate themselves by signing the nomination form. Any member of an
appropriate membership category may nominate candidates as well. Candidates for retired
member of the NEA-New Mexico Board of Directors, retired member of the NEA-New Mexico
EdPAC, and retired delegate to the 2010 NEA Representative Assembly must be nominated by
retired members; candidates for student delegate to the 2010 NEA Representative Assembly
must be nominated by student members.

Nominations may be mailed or hand-delivered to the President of NEA-New Mexico so as to
arrive by the close of business on Tuesday, October 20, 2009.

The elections committee has ruled that a nomination by a member other than the nominee will
not be considered a valid nomination unless the nominee has given express prior permission for
the nomination. The committee has also ruled that only nominations made on official
nomination forms will be considered valid. Ballot position for 2010 NEA Representative
Assembly will be in the order in which the nominations are received. All other ballot positions
will be determined by lot in accordance with the standing rules.
