Whitestown Fire Dept. - Press Release
For Information contact:
July 2, 2012 Chief Joe Anderson
For Immediate Release email@example.com
Last Friday afternoon Whitestown Fire Chief Joe Anderson implemented an emergency declaration banning the
use of fireworks in Whitestown until further notice. Despite the ban there were many reports of illegal fireworks
throughout the weekend and the public received mixed messages when notifying authorities. To clarify; the use
of fireworks in Whitestown is forbidden until further notice. The Whitestown Police Department has the
authority to cite offenders. Additionally they may be held civilly liable for damages to others’ property.
In light of the historic draught, heat index and water restriction conditions in which we find ourselves it is
irresponsible to ignore the declaration. There is also the well-being of public safety personnel to consider. The
Town of Whitestown does not wish to put any firefighter at risk for heat exhaustion or heat stroke due to
someone’s irresponsible behavior. We ask for the cooperation of Whitestown residents so that we may all enjoy
a safe and joyful Fourth of July.
To report the use of fireworks, please call (765) 482-1412.
