JOB SUMMARY:
Under the general supervision of the Manager of Seniors Housing & Lifeline Programs, and clinical
direction of the Seniors Wellness Coordinator 2, is responsible for assisting with the facilitation of health
promotion and disease prevention programs for seniors housing and assisted living programs in the
Prince George area. The position is responsible for assisting with the implementation of programs that
address the physical, mental, emotional, spiritual and social well being of the residents and tenants. The
duties, in consultation with the Seniors Wellness Coordinator 2, include program planning,
implementation and evaluation as well as supervision of students and volunteers. These duties will be
carried out according to established policies and procedures in an Elder Friendly manner and consistent
with Gentle Care principles.
TYPICAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
-   Liaises with the Seniors Wellness Coordinator on a regular basis as established together.
-   Assists the Wellness Coordinator in the development and delivery of programs and events that
    address the physical, social, cognitive, educational, self-esteem and arts and cultural needs of the
    clients.
-   Sets up and organizes furnishings, supplies and equipment for recreation programs and events.
-   Encourages client participation in organized recreation programs, and in formal and informal leisure
    activities.
-   Implements strategies for reducing isolation and inactivity, such as one-on-one programming, under
    the direction of the Wellness Coordinator.
-   Assists the volunteer leaders or leads the clients in wellness programs, events and outings,
    recognizing their abilities and limitations.
-   Participates in the orienting, training, scheduling, monitoring and providing feedback and support for
    volunteers.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES CONT'D:
General tasks:
- Report observations of client behavior and progress and /or changes to the clients’ condition to other
   members of the interdisciplinary care team.
- Participates in staff meetings and discusses issues relevant to all services within the program.
- Assists the Seniors Wellness Coordinator (2) with the development, revision and deletion of policies
   and procedures, forms, and systems related to the Wellness Program.
- Attends a variety of meetings such as department meetings and in-services as required by the
   employer.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.


REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
-   Diploma or Degree from an accredited Recreation program or related field (e.g. physical education or
    kinesiology)
-   Two (2) years recent, related experience
-   One (1) year recent experience with community based clientele, and in community service settings is
    a strong asset.
-   Basic computer skills including Microsoft Work and e-mail
-   An unrestricted Class 4 driver’s license and a reliable vehicle
